Eugene Thomas, 16, of Greencastle, died Tuesday morning at Putnam Co. Hospital from injuries suffered when he was caught between slabs of stone carried in the train car he was riding when a wreck occured. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas of Greencastle. Other survivors are 2 brothers, Dennis and Howard Thomas, four sisters; Wilma Jean, Christine, Thelma and Bessie Thomas. Greencastle, Ind June 16 – Eugene Thomas, 16 years old, of Greencastle, died today of injuries suffered Friday in the wreck of a Monon Railroad freight train at Putnamville. He was the third to die, Charles Eker of Lafayette, the engineer died Saturday and John B. Rector, brakeman of Lafayette, succumbed Sunday. Four other remains in the hospital here with serious injuries. - kbz
